Sustainable Merton

Sustainable Merton is a community led initiative giving local residents, groups, organisations and businesses the opportunity to stimulate practical action to make our area a sustainable community.

The thinking behind Sustainable Merton is simply that a borough using energy and resources in a sustainable way could, if properly planned for and designed, be more resilient, more abundant and more pleasurable that the present. The initiative is at an embryonic stage but the potential is great.

So far we have held screenings, talks and discussions which have set the picture for the scale of the task we as a community face. The project will develop, over the next few months to not just provide more informative screenings, presentations and discussions but also to develop a community visioning process which will give you the opportunity to decide what kind of borough you would like see in the future and what steps we need to collectively take to get there.

In addition to offering presentations to residents associations and community groups, we will be holding themed events giving you the opportunity to have your say on how you feel we should tackle the challenges which lay ahead.
